The Breville TG425XL can be used to cook, or grill, a wide variety of different foods. Of course you can make some lovely toasted sandwiches. There has been a boom in recent years for people to create their own toasted sandwiches at home. This can be really good fun and it is also something to consider if living frugally is something that you are interested in.
This Breville grill is more expensive than the BSG520XL but it is designed to do different things. And unlike many products available today that only have superficial differences these two Panini grills are different in many ways.

To be honest it is the BSG520XL that I prefer as far as making Panini is concerned. The reason I like this grill more is that it has a flat bottom plate. This allows me to heat up toasted sandwiches thoroughly as well as speedily.
This grill has a ribbed upper plate that provides authentic cafe style burn marks on the top of your sandwich. On the other hand, the TG425XL's lower, as well as upper plates, are ridged. This means you can get lovely sear marks into the food that you cook with it. This is not in my opinion advantageous when I make toasted sandwiches.
But this grill has many benefits as far as cooking other things like meats and vegetables in it. So if you are looking for a versatile grilling appliance that can be used for much more than just hot toasted sandwiches then the Breville TG425XL may be worth having a look at.
